Things can be classified as living or non-living by using MRS GREN:
M: Movement
R: Respiration
S: Sensitivity
G: Growth
R: Reproduction
E: Excretion
N: Nutrition
For a thing to be living it must meet all of the MRS GREN criteria.
Animals are then classified into either mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and birds.
Mammals:
Reptiles:
Amphibians:
Fish:
Birds:
Each one these is split further into vertebrates are invertebrates. Vertebrates are animals that have a back bone while invertebrates are animals that don't have back bones.
