Lipids, carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, minerals, and fibre and water, are all essential for our body.
Vitamins and Minerals: Needed in tiny amounts to keep body healthy
Carbohydrates: Foods such as bread, that give your body energy for a short time or long time.
Lipids: Energy source to give body warmth and make cell membranes
Protein: Needed for body to grow and repair cells and build muscles
Fiber: Needed to keep food moving in digestive system and prevent constipation
Water: Needed to start chemical reactions in our body.

What chemicals are needed to test for these:
Lipids: Ethanol is needed to test for this. If the ethanol turns cloudy, then lipids and present. Examples of lipids are cheese, and milk
Carbohydrate (starch): Iodine is used to test for carbohydrate. If iodine turns, blue-black, then starch is present. Examples of starch are bread.
Carbohydrate (glucose): Add 10 drops of Benedict's solution to the food. If the solution changes color then glucose is present
Protein: Add 10 drops of Biuret's solution. If color changes to purple then protein is present.
