Pompeii
Pompeii
Pompeii was one of the Italy's greatest disaster. Following an earthquake on 5 February AD 62, there was an eruption of Mt Vesuvius on 24 August 79 BC. After the earthquake life returned to Pompeii and the damaged buildings were rebuilt. But since Pompeii was at the foot of Mt Vesuvius, the eruption affected it the most. Many lives were affected during this eruption, also the rich soil of Pompeii. The poor citizens of Pompeii could not identify what was going on since there was no word for Volcano in Latin. Pompeii was literally buried in ash and igneous rock. However Pompeii is still a major tourist attraction as the ash and rock has kept the buildings and structure of ancient Rome, intact and untouched.
